SABRINA - NEWSLETTER NO. 4 (JUNE 2022)

01-07-2022

Good vibes and bikes will get you anywhere.

The year 2022 represents the final year of the SABRINA project implementation. Good vibes are felt in the project team, especially since we finally met for the first time in person during our Steering Committee meeting in Hungary. Bicycles did take us around quite a bit in the past six months: from completing safety inspections of EuroVelo routes in eight project partners countries, celebrating different events, and cycling on the EuroVelo 9 from Vienna to Ljubljana and arriving at the Velo-city conference where SABRINA project was presented. Check out our activities in some selected news below. For more information visit our webpage and follow us on social media: Twitter and Facebook

Enjoy the summer months and hopefully, you will spend as much time as possible on your bicycle. Stay safe and remember: SABRINA will make sure there will be no fears about safety on two wheels!

All the best,
SABRINA Project Team

eUROVELO BICYCLE ROUTES SAFETY INSPECTIONS ARE COMPLETED

The SABRINA project partner's team from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, visited Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary in March. With safety inspections of the selected parts of the EuroVelo routes in these three countries, we have completed the safety surveys in the Danube area. More about our fieldwork HERE. In the past two months, the Westpannon Team from Hungary surveyed by bicycle an additional 677 km (read more HERE), which means altogether around 3000 km of EuroVelo routes 6, 8, 9, 11, 13, and 14 in eight countries were surveyed with specially equipped car and bicycle.

OUR ACTIVITIES AND RESULTS WERE PRESENTED IN VIENNA, JIHLAVA, TURKU AND LYON

Vienna (Austria) hosted the Austrian Cycling Summit in April, where we presented the project in the framework of the Danube Cycle Plans session, continuing the successful cooperation with the Danube Cycle Plans project. This was as well the case in Jihlava (Czechia), where the International Conference on Transforming Urban and Active Mobility took place in May. In Turku (Finland), the SABRINA project was presented at the European Conference on Mobility Management and Lyon (France) was the place for the EU's flagship event on mobility called Connecting Europe Days

COOPERATION FOR MORE PEOPLE CYCLING AND CYCLING THE CHANGE AT VELO-CITY IN LJUBLJANA

Lorem What is the best way to come to Velo-city? By bicycle, of course! The representatives of two Danube Transnational Programme projects - SABRINA and Danube Cycle Plans - in cooperation with the EuroVelo coordinators ad other partners and supporters have prepared a joint event 'Cycling to Velo-city 2022 along the EuroVelo 9 route - promoting safe cycling in the Danube are' under the slogan "Cooperation for more people cycling". We biked from Vienna to Ljubljana, where the biggest cycling summit in the world - Velo-city 2022 - took place between 14 and 17 June.

CELEBRATING BICYCLES, CYCLING AND ADVOCATING FOR SAFER CYCLING INFRASTRUCTURE

In the SABRINA project team, we celebrated, supported, and joined different initiatives, campaigns, events, and international days in the past six months. In February, we cooperated with the Danube Cycle Plans project and Maribor Cycling Network and prepared a challenge for Winter Bike To Work Day in Slovenia. In March, we celebrated International Women's Day and spoke up for safe (cycling) infrastructure for women. In April, we highlighted the role of cycling in the framework of International Day of Sport and World Day of Health. We are committed to safer streets with a focus on safer cycling infrastructure, therefore we supported the #CommitToAct campaign in May. Finally, in June we celebrated World Bicycle Day.
