SUBMITTING FOR MOBILITY AWARD

Our Austrian partner in EcoVeloTour, the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Department for Landscape, Spatial and Infrastructure Sciences, Institute for Transport Studies, who developed the Guidelines for sustainable bicycle tourism document as part of the project, submitted the EcoVeloTour project for the annual mobility award of the Austrian sustainable mobility organisation VCÖ (VCÖ-Mobilitätspreis) in the category tourism.

EVENT “SUSTAINABLE CYCLE AND ECO-TOURISM IN THE NATIONAL PARK NEUSIEDLER SEE – SEEWINKEL”

On October 14, 2020, a team of five people from the EcoVeloTour partner BOKU-ITS and the Climate and Energy Model Region Schwarzatal demonstrated the practical applicability of the principles developed in EcoVeloTour. The format chosen was a one-day excursion. The destination of the day out was the National Park Neusiedler See - Seewinkel in northern Burgenland.

“ECOTOURISM ALONG THE RÁKOS-CREEK - EXCHANGE OF MUNICIPAL EXPERIENCE” - ONLINE EVENT IN BUDAPEST

A successful online event was hold on October 20, 2020 with the title "Ecotourism along the Rákos-creek - exchange of municipal experience", organized by the Corvinus University of Budapest and the Municipality of Budapest. The meeting generated further cooperation.

CONFERENCE ABOUT CYCLING AT MARINAFORUM REGENSBURG

Strategies for sustainable cycle tourism are the focus of a network meeting of 70 East Bavarian tourism experts, local politicians and service providers. Designed as a transnational conference, Corona forced the event on a more regional basis. The focus is specifically on the EuroVelo cycle path network in the Danube region, i.e. the Danube cycle path and the Iron Curtain Trail. The East Bavarian Tourism Association (TVO) and the Center for Market-Oriented Tourism Research at the University of Passau (CenTouris) invited to the Marinaforum in Regensburg.

STUDY ON SMART BIKE REST PLACES CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

Our partner, Danube Competence Centre, wrote a Study on SMART bike rest places concept development. 

The spatial-program study aims to consider the resource and spatial possibilities and limitations of the construction of these objects, with the task of adopting the general conception, the selection criteria of location and spatial disposition of the object through the evaluation procedures.

AWARENESS RAISING EVENT BY BOKU AT VIENNA

On September 2, 2020, the project partner BOKU-ITS organized an Awareness Raising Event at the Viennese Trailcenter Hohe Wand Wiese. In accordance with corona rules and the format of a guided tour, a relatively small number of people was invited to participate in the event. In the end, a total of ten people attended the event. Participants came from the target groups tourists, ecotourism beneficiaries, tourism development coordinators and EuroVelo coordinating entities.

FREE MINDS IN STARTEGY DEVELOPMENT - INVOLVE THE STUDENTS!

The students' research and ideas also help the strategic planning of the Rákos stream for cycling and ecotourism. The strategies are prepared by Corvinus University of Budapest lecturers and external experts as part of the EcoVeloTour project.

DO WE WANT “SUSTAINABLE AND BARRIER-FREE CYCLE TOURISM OFFERS IN URBAN AND RURAL REGIONS”?

A group of four students selected the EcoVeloTour related topic “Sustainable and barrier-free cycle tourism offers in urban and rural regions” for their interdisciplinary project of the bachelor programme “Environment and Bio-Resources Management” at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences.
