THE VISION FOR A POST-INDUSTRIAL AREA:
REGIONAL CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY ARTS

Setting a best practice for Bulgaria by:

  • including different components of the society
  • creating a home for the cultural independent scene
  • giving co-ownership of the space to its users

SOFIA's pilot project: TOPLOCENTRALATA

A REGULATORY FRAMEWORK CHALLENGE

Sofia lacks a regulatory process for the co-ownership of spaces. This is exactly the kind of learning Sofia expects from AGORA:

  • Defining the aspects of shared ownership.
  • How do users organise to co-own the space and to co-manage a cultural center?
  • How a co-ownership program can be integrated by the Municipal Council?

When working on these crucial aspects of urban regeneration, a set of further challenges arises: what are the next steps of this public-community collaboration, and how this space will interact in a sustainable way with the green areas surrounding it?
