90 projects invited to the second step of the 1st call for proposals

02-05-2023

The Monitoring Committee of the new Danube Region Programme met online on 20 April, approving 90 projects to be invited to develop the full application form in the second step.

The programme received a total of 290 expressions of interest during the first call for proposals, which was open from 29 September 2022 to 21 November 2022, and targeted projects focused on the programme priorities 1, 2, 3, and specific objective 4.2.

With the high number of applications and more than 400 million euros worth of support requested, it is clear that there is a strong interest in transnational cooperation and the funding opportunities from the new programme.

It's particularly noteworthy that there were many project applications from non-EU countries, including new programme territory of Ukraine, and also where applicants from non-EU countries took an active role as lead partners, which indicates both an active engagement from actors outside of the European Union and the programme's ability to facilitate cooperation beyond the EU borders.

What a promising development! Overall, it's an exciting time for the Danube region, and we look forward to receiving the full project proposals!
