lifelineMDD - A big thanks to the lifelineMDD making MURA FESTIVAL 2022 in Slovenia happen

30-12-2022

In the last year of the project lifelineMDD, 2022, IRSNC organized about 20 events in the frame of the Mura Festival. A major part of the events is planned for children from local schools where children can learn about the Mura River, typical species, the problems of the area, biosphere reserves, and also the TBR MDD. Guided walks, various workshops, and lectures cover the topics of rivers, different species, nature conservation, and natural and cultural heritage.

We collaborated with 10 different schools, 7 non-governmental or other organizations which are from the area of the Biosphere reserve or are active here. At the events, we presented the Mura River, the TBR MDD, biosphere reserves, and animal and plant species. Moreover, we included activities from the Training handbook which enabled people to learn about rivers in a fun way.

Together all the events were attended by 650 locals. We fulfilled our aim to raise awareness about rivers and to educate about nature conservation from an â€‹early age. Therefore, we wish to continue this important work and maintain the collaboration with the stakeholders from the area of the TBR MDD through the Mura Festival also in the future.
