The ISTER project and experiences from its implementation were presented during the workshop of the PRONACUL project on the topic of "Cultural and natural heritage as a resource for sustainable tourism", organised by the Municipality of Raska and the Urban Development Center on December 7, 2022, at Kopaonik.

The PRONACUL project is implemented within the Interreg ADRION Programme and promotes natural and cultural heritage possibilities for developing sustainable tourism in protected areas.

During the workshop, participants from regional institutions dealing with the promotion and preservation of the natural and cultural heritage of the Raška district were presented with the most significant cultural monuments from the territory of Raška and Novi Pazar. The value and importance of cultural heritage protection and natural heritage preservation were emphasised. At the same time, Marija Janjić, project manager of the ISTER project for Serbia, presented experiences from the implementation of this project and its activities, which can serve as an excellent example for future programs implemented in the Raška district.

The ISTER project rediscovers and revives the ancient network of Roman roads and settlements along the Danube region. ISTER promotes this network of roads and settlements as an opportunity to strengthen the territorial competitiveness and sustainable growth of the Danube region through the creation of the new VIA ISTER eco-cultural route - Follow the Romans along the Danube Region!

Programme co-funded by European Union funds (ERDF, IPA, ENI)
