OJP4Danube - Final event

12-12-2022

The OJP4Danube Final Dissemination Event was held on November 29, 2022, from 14.00 to 17.30 in Hotel Four Points by Sheraton / Hotel Mons, Ljubljana, Slovenia. To reach a wider range of relevant stakeholders and interested participants, the event was co-organized with the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) Priority Area 1b (Improving Mobility) coordinators in cooperation with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Transport Community as a side event to the Danube Region Transport Days 2022 conference: https://danube-region.eu/danube-events/drtd-2022/.

By organizing the Final Event, the project consortium aimed to raise awareness of the philosophy behind Linking of Services, the OJP4Danube project and the future of OJP, and disseminate project results and findings to the transport community. The speeches presented at the Final Dissemination Event addressed, among others, future implementers and adopters of the developed solution, policy makers and research community.

The speakers introduced the background of the project and then raised awareness of technical results of the project, which are already available and might be reused by other projects and stakeholders. According to the speakers, OJP4Danube successfully demonstrated that OJP interface can be applied to safely transfer data between nodes in a transnational journey planning system. While there are still some performance issues related to scalability of the developed solution, project partners have already identified measures to address them. From the point of view of future adopters, the importance of raising awareness about the need for deployment of OJP4Danube system, especially in tourism-oriented countries, has been emphasised. The speakers also overviewed the activities project consortium conducts to ensure efficient knowledge transfer, such as organizing workshops in Western Balkan countries and developing an e-learning web platform.

Yannick Cornet and Ľuboš Buzna from the University of Žilina (UNIZA) travelled to Ljubljana multimodally, and they prepared a photo documentation of their experience using a combination of bike and rail for a business trip. The photos were demonstrated on the screen during the coffee break.

After the coffee break, Yannick shortly presented the experience of using bike and train for business trip. He discussed pros and cons along with the technical difficulties they experienced on their way.

The event was concluded by a final speech by Martin Böhm (AustriaTech) on behalf of the project Lead Partner discussing the future of OJP and the potential to further advance OJP by bringing together existing OJP initiatives and stakeholders to facilitate learning from each other, to harmonize deployments by ensuring interoperability of systems and contributing to OJP standardization.
