The Center for Energy, Environment and Resources (CENER 21) within the framework of the STRIDE project (Improved energy planning through the integration of smart grid concepts in the Danube region) is organising the final conference and local event for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). The event, scheduled for the 13th December 2022, is centred on sharing the main results of the STRIDE project in the region and beyond. In addition to the project partner CENER 21 for BiH, the associated strategic partner for the region (Zenica-Doboj and Central Bosnia Canton) is supporting in the organisation of the event, the Regional Development Agency for the Central BiH Region – REZ Agency.

For the past two year, the STRIDE project was co-financed by the Interreg Danube Transnational Programme (DTP), with the main goal of the project to provide the comprehensive involvement of local/regional decision makers in support of improving energy planning through knowledge transfer and development of planning tools. Some of the main goals of this transnational project included regional analyses, development of strategies, action plans and other tools (e.g., methodologies, guidelines and guides, web platforms, etc.) that will enable and accelerate the integration of the concept of smart grids into local and regional policies across the Danube region.

The most important results of the project will be presented at the final regional dissemination event of the STRIDE project results. The regional smart grid strategy of BiH and the resulting action plans for the promotion and integration of the smart grid into the power system will be presented in detail. The participants of the event will be introduced to the strategy development process – from the regional analysis as a starting point, to the training of key stakeholders and the findings of the STRIDE project, to the actual implementation of smart grids in the region as a long-term goal of the project. In addition to presenting the results of the project, the goal of the final regional event is to exchange experiences and examples of smart grid integration between cities/communities, companies, and regional actors in the Region and beyond.

The event is intended for representatives of policy makers (i.e., competent ministries at the federal and cantonal levels, local self-government units - cities and municipalities), representatives of production companies and equipment suppliers, representatives of energy transmission and distribution companies, development agencies, regulatory agencies, representatives of the academic community from the field of energy, representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises, and the non-governmental sector, who ensure the long-term acceptance of the project's results.
