Danube Cycle Plans - Active mobility is of high importance, confirmed the EUSDR Steering Group in Slovenia

A Slovenian EUSDR (Danube Region Strategy) presidency was kicked off by a meeting of the Steering Group EUSDR Priority area 1b: To improve mobility and multimodality: road, rail and air transport. The meeting was held on Thursday and Friday, 3rd and 4th November 2022 in Bled, Slovenia. After seven online meetings, the Steering Group met finally again in person.



In terms of the meeting, the outputs of the Danube Cycle Plans project were presented by Gregor Steklačič from the Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure. The results of the project included the Danube Cycling Strategy, Updated CBA Methodology for Transport infrastructure projects, the definition of the “DanuVelo” (Danube Cycle Route Network) and Investment Plan, National Cycling Conferences, National Working Groups, Stakeholder Inspiration Events and other outputs.

“We have agreed, that more attention should be paid to cycling in Danube Region Strategy, especially as a part of multimodal systems in connection with public transport,” said Gregor Steklačič after the meeting.

The presentation of the Danube Cycle Plans project at this high-level event shows that cycling has an important role in transport systems in the Danube Region.
