31-10-2022

Under the tagline “The future is on two wheels” ("Budućnost na 2 točka") the first-ever Serbian National Cycling Conference was organized in Novi Sad on September 28 – 29, 2022, gathering around 100 people in two days.

On the first day of this event, the National Cycling Strategy was presented and discussed at the premises of the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The importance of involving all relevant Ministries in the process of developing and implementing the strategy was particularly highlighted. Afterwards, the draft version of the National Cycle Route Network was elaborated.

Thanks to the partners from Austria, Czech Republic and Croatia the delegates could hear a wide range of good practice examples from those countries.

The first day ended with a joint bike ride along Novi Sad, presenting the cycling infrastructure of the capital of Vojvodina.

On the second day of the conference, several tourism associations, NGOs and cycling organizations had a chance to present their work.

All the presentations, photos and video of the first day can be found at the conference web site: https://buducnostna2tocka.rs/

Serbia was one of the 6 countries, where National Cycling Conferences were initiated as an annual platform for the exchange of experiences. By this, Danube Cycle Plans project aims at the promotion of cycling as an integral part of an environmentally-friendly transport system which contributes to the EUSDR objective to improve inter-modality and the DTP objective to support environmentally-friendly and safe transport systems.
