DANUrB+ - Part of Placemaking Europe Week in Pontevedra, Spain - September 2022

25-10-2022

This September DANUrB+ visited Spain!

Our colleague, Laura Kovács participated in Placemaking Europe Week 2022 in Pontevedra, where she represented our great project and shared with the audience some of the best stories and methodologies we have.

In DANUrB+ we use placemaking a lot as a tool to reach our goals like creating sustainable communities, revalorizing heritage or creating a regional brand from the local identity of our partner towns.

On the first day Laura gave a presentation on how we do these in practice in the “Placemaking Tools that Work” panel. On the second day they played our favorite game, DANUrBANITY on the Teucro square in Pontevedra, and it turned out that it can be used very well in other cultures as well, since the super kind, spanish, local citizens felt engaged a lot to join to play with them. On the last day she facilitated a workshop called “Waterfronts - A Guide for People-Centered Development” and shared the DANUrB knowledge on how to reactivate in a tactical way underused waterfronts.

We are really glad that we had the chance to start to build a network with European placemakers, especially with Placemaking Western Balkans, because we work with very similar situations and tools in our everyday lives and it’s always better to deal with these issues together!
