Danube´s Archaeological eLandscapes - At the European Association of Archaeologists Annual Meeting

12-10-2022

The 28th Annual Meeting of the European Association of Archaeologists was the largest meeting of archaeologists in Europe.
This year it took place from August 31st to September 3rd in Budapest. Around 2000 participants met for more than 200 sessions and could hear more than 2000 presentations. The presentations will also be streamed online.

Partners from the Danubes Archaeological eLandscapes project stormed the event with presentations in many different sessions, including the keynote speech by Dr Matija Črešnar and in a separate project session entitled »Routed Archeology III – Getting around«. The Interreg DTP project Living Danube Limes also took part in our meeting. In addition, the exhibition “Stories of the Past” presented in the Hungarian National Museum was promoted and offered to the event participants.

This year the participants of the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA) could not just hear about the Danube's Archaeological eLandscapes project through presentations or experience it via the VR exhibition in the Hungarian National Museum but also take the message of the project home with them.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the National Institution of Archaeology, a printed booklet about ongoing archaeological projects of the Institution was made and given to the participants. We hope that the EAA participants coming from 50 different countries all around the world will bring back the news of our projects not only in their hearts and minds but in their hands as well. Our network is looking forward to new collaborations and future project proposals that could come from anywhere across the globe.
