Veszprem Municipality had a chance to introduce its ISTER project to the general public on the 23rd of July in the frame of the “Csikasz Picnic”, an outdoor festival of the Museum.

Visitors could learn about the Roman heritage of the region and the life's work of sculptor Imre Csikász at the Csikász Picnic organised jointly by the Laczkó Dezső Museum and the Municipality of Veszprém. The picnic was hosted in a park area of Antal Csermák Street and was opened by Richárd Csik, the municipal representative of the district. He expressed his pleasure to have the district as one of the venues for the museum's outdoor events and hoped that future events would continue to strengthen the local community. Brigitta Péterváry-Szanyi, the institution’s director, said that at the picnic, experts would present archaeological, ethnographic, historical and fine arts values and museum objects related to the site. At the event, for example, visitors could see Imre Csikász's trunk, which contained things related to the artist's life.

At the picnic, visitors also learned about the municipality's ISTER project, which connects the countries of the Danube region along the Roman heritage.

Thanks to the ISTER project and the Baláca Archaeological Park of the Hungarian National Museum, visitors had the opportunity to get their hands on replicas of Roman artefacts, and children could put on the armoured costume of a Roman legionary or a beautiful girl's dress, and colour Roman-inspired pictures.

In addition to the ISTER project, posters gave adult visitors an insight into what life was like in the former province of Pannonia, and archaeologists were on hand to answer questions. The more adventurous were tested with a quiz, and those who successfully completed the quiz received a small gift.
