DANUrB+ - NOVO KULTURNO NASELJE ORGANIZED DANUBE DAY EVENT IN BAČKA PALANKA 29.06.2022

One of the activities in which the DANUrB+ project works on is capacity development and cross-border cooperation of 26 Danube cities in 6 European countries at the lower reaches of the River, is the one-day event Danube Day. Novo kulturno naselje (NKN) from Novi Sad has been participating in the DANUrB+ project for two years, exploring the tourist potential and heritage of the Danube in Bačka Palanka.
The event took place on 6/29/2022. and it lasted the whole afternoon. It included a series of activities for children and young people. An animation and entertainment program, painting workshops, a competition in writing poems about the Danube, and two exhibitions, one of which had an international touch, were organized. On display were the paintings of students from Julije Benešić Elementary School in Ilok and photos of students from the 20th October Gimnazium in Bačka Palanka. The theme of the exhibition was the Danube, and it was called "Danube Cosmos". On the city beach there was also a chill zone for youngsters. The event was extremely well attended.
Also, together with the local theatre director Sonja Petrović, a lecture was organized for the students of the ,,20th October" Gimnazium through a walk and a visit to the City Museum. There they had a discussion on the historical influence of the Danube on local artists. The study walk ended on the city beach, where together with the authors of the works, the multimedia exhibition "Danube Cosmos" was opened. Danube Day was realized in cooperation with Bačka Palanka Tourist Organization.
On the same day, a stakeholders meeting was held, where local stakeholders were introduced to the DANUrB+ project. The meeting discussed further opportunities for networking, and it was attended by citizens from the fields of education, art, media, and local businesses.
DANUrB+ (Danube Urban Brand) is an international project that aims to connect and strengthen communities along the Danube. The project involves 19 faculties and organizations from 26 cities in Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Serbia. The goal of the project is the facilitation of local cooperation and the creation of cultural content, as well as the promotion of Danube traditions and goods in order to support the development of tourism.
The Novo kulturno naselje Association, as part of the initiative to establish a Cultural Center in Novo naselje from 2014 to today, has successfully implemented 16 festivals, over 1 100 educational and artistic workshops and events, volunteer, humanitarian and ecology actions, public spaces interventions, as well as a few international projects.
