DANUrB+ - DANUBE DAY CELEBRATION AND ACTIVITIES IN MOLDOVA NOUA, ROMANIA 25-26.06.2022

30-06-2022

In preparation for the Danube Day, which was celebrated yesterday, the Euroland Banat Association from Reșița organized, in the previous weekend, a series of events to mark the moment.

Following the principles of the DANUrB+ project, the partners organized several activities dedicated to the community, first of all to the students at the High School from Moldova Nouă.

Thus, on Saturday, 25 June 2022, a study trip was organized aiming those students have the opportunity to experience the route between Moldova Nouă and Orșova (i.e., the entire Danube Gorge) as tourists. As a result, they had the possibility to admire the special beauty of the landscape, to visit the tourist attractions in the region, as well as to assess the situation of the services offered to tourists. In addition, the younger had the opportunity to practice the role of being a guide. Thus, the volunteers of the "Danube Gorge" Association from Moldova Nouă entered the role of tourist guide for the group participating in the trip, to which they had to present the objectives of tourist interest that are on the route. Also on Saturday, Politehnica University of Timișoara (UPT) responded positive to Euroland Banat’s invitation and launched the Focus: Danube exhibition of students’ projects at the Moldova Nouă Highschool.

Sunday, 26 June, students continued their tourist exploration of the region. Thus, they completed the previous day's experience with a unique one: they visited the island of Ostrov and took a boat ride. Although the island is very close to Moldova Nouă, for many of the young participants in the event this was the moment they visited it for the first time in their life.

Yesterday, 29 June 2022, on the International Day of the Danube, DANUrB+ partners marked the event with an exhibition organized at the Tourist Information Center of Moldova Nouă. Entitled Miniature worlds - 12 stories from the community, the exhibition is inspired by the documentation and research activity carried out within the DANUrB+ project.

The conclusion of the events was a short discussion regarding the experience the students had in the past two days. In addition, UPT presented some drawings made by their students related to shrinking communities around the Danube area that they have visited.
