CD SKILLS - CD SKILLS project partners actively participated at the 54th ESPGHAN Annual meeting in Copenhagen

Partners of the CD SKILLS project were very active during the 54th ESPGHAN Annual meeting organised in Copenhagen between June 23 and 26.. After cancellation of the meeting in 2020 and virtual meeting organised in 2021 participants from all continents met at the largest meeting focusing on gastrointestinal disorders of children. Meeting was attended by more than 4000 participants from 110 countries, with 3000 attending on-site and 1000 online. It was an excellent opportunity to share new knowledge and experiences with friends and colleagues from other centres and to establish networks for future collaboration.

Since practically all partners attended the meeting, a short partnership meeting was organised to communicate any outstanding issues and to facilitate the preparation of partner and project reports. All partners were encouraged to attend oral presentations and lectures presented by project partners and to attend poster tours where the results of the CD SKILLS project were presented by the partnership. Presentations were very well attended and received positive feedback by many participants of the meeting. Alina Popp from INSMC presented a talk The role of the gluten challenge in the management of children with celiac disease. How to do it today? at a symposium dedicated to Management and treatment of celiac disease. Jernej Dolinšek from UKC MB Presented a lecture on Celiac disease follow-up at clinical postgraduate course. He also presented current activities and outcomes of the CD SKILLS project and possible synergies with other initiatives at the meeting of Celiac Disease Special Interest Group. Sara Sila, Mario Mašić, Tena Niseteo, Iva Hojsak and Zrinjka Mišak from CHZ were selected for an oral presentation of the study on Nutritional intake of patients with coeliac disease on gluten-free diet in comparison to healthy children. The same group has also presented two posters: Croatian experience on different telemedicine options for coeliac disease regular check-ups in gastroenterologist office – a patient survey (Mario Mašić, Iva Hojsak, Oleg Jadrešin, Ana Močić Pavić, Mia Šalamon Janečić, Sanja Kolaček, Zrinjka Mišak) and Screening for coeliac disease among first-degree relatives of coeliac disease patients – should we improve the response? (Mario Mašić, Ante Mazalin, Oleg Jadrešin, Iva Hojsak, Ana Močić Pavić, Mia Šalamon Janečić, Sanja Kolaček, Zrinjka Mišak). Partners from HP, UNIDEB and LMU presented a poster Lack of the normal humoral immune response to gluten in early infancy in HLA-DQ2.5 homozygous subjects at high risk for coeliac disease (Ilma Korponay Szabo, Bharani Srinivasan, Ádám Diós, Judit Gyimesi, Katharina Werkstetter, Luisa M Mearin, Rudolf Valenta, Sibylle Koletzko) and CD SKILLS partnership as a whole presented some results of the project with two additional posters: The knowledge about coeliac disease among healthcare professionals is not satisfactory in the Danube region and The use of no-biopsy approach for diagnosing children with coeliac disease is increasing – with Petra Rižnik as a presenting author and Ida Čarnohorski, Jasmina Dolinšek, Nataša Dragutinović, Judit Gyimesi, Tina Kamhi Trop, Almuthe Christina Hauer, Martina Klemenak, Ilma Rita Korponay-Szabo, Tomaz Krenčnik, Mario Mašić, Zrinjka Mišak, Vesna Pavkov, Alina Popp, Tatiana Raba, Peter Szitanyi, and Jernej Dolinšek as co-authors.
