A building camp for students within the international INTERREG “DANUrB+” Project was held in Golubac on June 21-24, 2022. Students and teaching staff of the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade participated, with the support and assistance of the representatives of local partner – Golubac Municipality: municipal tourist organization, municipal library, and the citizens, as well as with a donation from the “Arhi.pro” private company.

The goal of the camp is to revive, build, and beautify an open public space – a square in the center of Golubac, near the Danube. Students and teaching staff have previously prepared projects for the camp work at the 06 Urbanism faculty studio at the integrated study programme in architecture. All participants have worked for four days on the construction of urban furniture and arranging the space of the small square, which was given to the citizens at the end of the camp.

The camp is realized in several steps, day by day. The first day was clearing the site and preparing construction the camp material. On the second day, there was the assembly of the main elements of urban furniture, as well as preparatory works for their safe use (polishing edges and corners, removing nails from wooden pallets). On this day, colleagues from Romania, from the Faculty of Architecture in Timisoara, also came to visit the camp, as they will have a similar camp in Nova Moldava, across from Golubac, in a month. On the third day, the main elements of the furniture were assembled and painted. During this day, there was also a presentation of student projects in the hall of the municipal library. At the same day, the camp was also visited by the journalist teams of Radio Television Serbia and "Mlava" Regional Television. On the last day, smaller elements of the furniture were made.

At the end of the camp, the exact arrangement of the elements was determined, which formed a new open public space in Golubac. It attracted users, mostly children, on the first evening.

The realization of the camp and its preparatory teaching activities at the Faculty of Architecture were implemented by: prof. Aleksandra Đukić, prof. Eva Vaništa Lazarević, asst. Jelena Marić, asst. Branislav Antonić, PhD students Milorad Obradović and Nikola Mitrović, as well as 32 students from 06U studio 2021-2022 of integrated study programme in architecture.
