Danube Cycle Plans - Municipal urban planners from Serbia participated in the Inspiration Event

On June 6th, 2022, the Danube Competence Center organised the stakeholder inspiration event targeting transport focused urban planners from the municipalities across Serbia. This online panel gathered more than 20 participants from the target audience, and it was organised in cooperation with the National Association of Local Authorities in Serbia.

Martin Eder from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Climate Action shared the experience related to the cycling infrastructure planning and development in Austria, highlighting the case of one-way streets and the streets with lower speed limit where cycling is used parallel with the other modes of transport.

Ivana Kostic and Mladen Markovic from the Roads of Serbia Public Enterprise talked about strategic overview of the legal regulations in Serbia, highlighting the need for the better coordination on a local level.

Aleksandar Jevdjenic from the Urbanizam PE shared the experiences from Novi Sad which may be considered as the true cycling capital of Serbia, having more than 100 km of cycling lanes developed.

Zoran Bukvic from Ulice za bicikliste NGO shared the view of the process of the preparation and adoption of the plans related to cycling infrastructure in Serbia.

Biljana Ranković Plazinic from the Ahe Academy of Applied Technical Studies presented the case of guidelines developed for the city of Sabac in Serbia, which provided instructions to local planners how to improve cycling infrastructure and raise the awareness based on the local regulations and best practice from abroad.

Finally, Vladimir Djumic from the Danube Competence Center announced the first National Cycling Conference in Serbia which should take place this September.
