Day 5 of ‘Cycling to Velo-city 2022 along the EuroVelo 9 route took us from the counts city of Celje to Dolsko and served us with some amazing views, that came hand in hand with challenging hills. 

In the morning, the city of Celje was filled with cycling energy on their Day of cycling as part of the preparations for hosting stage three of the Tour of Slovenia professional bike race on 17th June 2022. We were joined by our friends from ZavodVozim, Institute for Innovative Education, focusing primarily on road safety and traffic injury prevention. We were warmly welcomed by the Vice Mayor of Celje, Breda Arnšek, who congratulated us on our efforts for connecting the municipalities through cycling and handed us the document of support for the pan-European Master Plan for Cycling Promotion signed by the Mayor of Celje Bojan Šrot. 

Our cycling route took us out into the green landscape of the Savinjska and then the Zasavska region, where the Mayor of Litija Franci Rokavec, Vice Mayor Lijana Lovše and Alenka Urbanc, Director of the local cultural, youth and sports union welcomed us for a refreshing stop and constructive exchange of ideas for better cycling promotion and safer infrastructure solutions for cycling.
