CSSC LAB - Second CSSC Training held in Stegersbach

08-06-2022

In the context of CSSC Lab, Solar. One held another training in Stegersbach on 03.06.2022. The purpose of the training was to familiarise participants with sector coupling and city storage solutions.  The participants came from local municipalities and companies based in the region.

The training began with a guided tour of the competence centre where the batteries for storing electricity, the photovoltaic panels for capturing solar energy, the thermal heat storages for capturing heat, the heat exchanger system for heating and cooling the building as well as the e-vehicle charging station were shown.

The guided tour was followed by a discussion on the different technical solutions of thermal and electric storages in Austria.  Subsequently, Michael Niederkofler who is responsible for research and development projects at solar.one, spoke about the importance of storage and sector coupling solutions to increase energy independence in the private and municipal context and also gave an overview of the economic feasibility of these technologies.

After that, Cosmin Capra from ConPlusUltra held a presentation entitled “Energy independence in times of geopolitical crisis: how storage and sector coupling can make us less dependent on gas and oil.” Here the focus was placed on heat pumps and how these can be linked to photovoltaic panels to reduce the need for fossil fuels for heating and cooling.
