SABRINA - DAY 1: SUCCESSFUL LAUNCH OF OUR CYCLING FROM VIENNA TO LJUBLJANA

08-06-2022

Yesterday, we successfully launched our ‘Cycling to Velo-city 2022 along the EuroVelo 9 route - promoting safe cycling in the Danube area’ event with the Danube Cycle Plans project, EuroVelo coordinators and local partners and supporters. We started in Vienna and are planning to arrive in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, on Sunday, 12 June 2022. The biggest cycling summit, the Velo-city conference, where both projects will be present as well, will begin on 14 June 2022.

We were sent on our way by Leonore Gewessler, Austrian Minister of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology, Jill Warren, the CEO of European Cyclists' Federation and Robert Thaler, Head of Division Active Mobility and Mobility Management at Austrian Ministry of Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation, Technology.

On our journey, we are following the EuroVelo 9 route, connecting cities along the way and promoting the need for safer and more enjoyable cycling routes. The first stage was 70 km long, with multiple stops on the way in the municipalities Wiener Neudorf, Baden and Wiener Neustadt in Austria, where representatives of local authorities welcomed us, expressed their support for the goals of the SABRINA and Danube Cycle Plans projects and signed the support for the goals of the pan-European Master Plan for Cycling Promotion.

Follow our journey also on social media (Twitter, Facebook) and visit the SABRINA project booth next week at the Velo-city conference in Ljubljana.
