Danube´s Archaeological eLandscapes - TALES OF THE PAST - JOURNEY TO LOST LANDSCAPES virtual exhibition in Zagreb, Croatia

TALES OF THE PAST - JOURNEY TO LOST LANDSCAPES
exhibition Tales of the Past - Journey to Lost Lands, took place from April 13 - May 28, 2022, in the Gallery AMZ, of the Archaeological Museum of Zagreb.
The AMZ invited the visitors to travel through time thanks to the virtual archaeological landscapes of the Danube region!

The Danube, the second-longest river in Europe, flows through ten countries on its impressive course, and its basin extends over nine others. The Danube region comprises several colourful landscapes, stretching from the Alps across the Pannonian Plain and through the Carpathian Basin and the Balkans before the river empties into the Black Sea. The diversity of these landscapes has influenced many of the communities that historically inhabited these distinctive areas. The rich and culturally diverse archaeological heritage of the Danube region is a valuable remnant of millennia of development of European society and a carrier of essential data about our past.

Using the latest visualizations created within the project "Virtual Archaeological Landscapes of the Danube Region", partners from 10 European countries present unique archaeological sites from partner countries in the Danube region. Important museums and institutions in the Danube region form the backbone of this project. To bring the heritage closer to the public in a new and attractive way, they focused on the most important archaeological sites and landscapes of their regions. By integrating state-of-the-art virtual and augmented reality technology, we allow visitors to experience cultural heritage as it once was, not only in their own country but also in other partners' countries.

Dive into the past and explore Palaeolithic caves, prehistoric settlements and burial customs, Roman cities, medieval castles and much more!

The project "Virtual Archaeological Landscapes of the Danube Region" (acronym: Danube's archaeological eLandscapes, DTP: 3-641-2.2) is implemented within the Interreg Transnational Cooperation Program VB Danube 2014-2020 and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund ( ERDF).
