CD SKILLS - Pilot project rapid testing at General University Hospital in Prague

17-05-2022

Rapid testing for celiac disease enables early detection of patients in different populations. With this activity, specific antibodies (PoC) are detected with rapid tests. The test requires a drop of capillary blood and provides results within 5 to 10 minutes. Tests are used in routine practice in many settings. The approach is less invasive than standard procedure.

Students participated in the activity voluntarily. During the screening, we asked them about possible symptoms associated with celiac disease. In case of a positive result of the rapid test, the participants are referred for further specialist care.

We are expecting to test 500 people.
