STRIDE - “Energy Transition - City, Citizens and Local Communities” Panel

In order to acquaint the city of Pula with positive energy transition initiatives, the association Zelena Istra (Green Istria) organised a panel on the 16th of March 2022 in the Cvajner Gallery in Pula city (as well as online) titled “Energy Transition - City, Citizens and Local Communities”. Here, positive experiences related to the energy transition were shared by representatives of several Croatian cities.
Speakers at the event included: Mario Rajn (Mayor of Križevci), Valter Glavičić, Mayor of Labin; Ugo Toić, Head of the Island Development Agency for the Preservation of the Cres - Lošinj Islands and President of the Assembly of the Energy Cooperative Apsyrtides; and Ivan Zoković from the Green Energy Cooperative, Project Leader of “Križevci SunRoofs” – the first Croatian solar power plant financed by citizens, and within the energy transition of the island of Korčula. The panel discussion was moderated by Bernard Ivčić from the Green Action.
Those participating had the opportunity to learn about the energy cooperatives, KLIK from Križevci and Cres-Lošinj, cooperative Apsyrtides, and the project of building communal solar power plants that will be funded by citizens and island companies. Discussion was held about the decarbonisation of the islands of Cres and Lošinj, climate neutrality of Križevci, as well as the solarisation of the city of Pula. The panel discussion also presented the PVMax REGEA project, which provides a free technical assistance service to prepare for the construction of at least 100 MW of solar power plants integrated on the rooftops of more than 3,000 family houses, public and private buildings in Croatia.
