As part of our efforts to introduce various stakeholders to CINEMA’s tools for urban revitalisation, both Bulgarian partners - Община ГАБРОВО/GABROVO Municipality and Studio Komplekt - organized an online event “Initiatives for District 6”. The district is our pilot location in Gabrovo. Cultural managers, architects, representatives of the local administration and community, of art districts from the Bulgarian towns Varna and Veliko Tarnovo took part in the discussion. The event was targeted presentation of tools. The Gabrovo project team talked about the achieved results: an economic analysis, digital map of the pilot location and the area, data base of the area, an open business call and a signed agreement between the city administration and a small retailer.

A cultural program was announced which will be held from 17 to 26 June 2022 in District 6. It is prepared by Studio Komplekt in collaboration with Gabrovo Municipality, art organizations, local and foreign cultural institutes. It offers a variety of art events and workshops, exhibitions of local and foreign artists, visual transformations in the pilot location, documentary theatrical performances, literature city tours.

The representatives of the creative districts Talyana in Varna and Varusha South in Veliko Tarnovo shared their experience and best practices how to revitalize historical city centers and to transform them into art hot spots. One of the local cultural communities in Gabrovo presented its own program of art events and initiatives. It is based in the former Palauzovo school which is one of the emblematic buildings of District 6.
