Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova can count on support from the Danube Region Programme

07-04-2022
On 6 April, Head of our Managing Authority, Imre Csalagovits, met with the European Commission and the representatives of the ENI/NEXT programmes cooperating with Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova to discuss the immediate needs of the programme as well as the future participation of the countries in the 2021-2027 EU programmes, including in the Danube Region Programme.

Following the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the European Union has adopted several response measures, such as the suspension of all cross-border and transnational programmes and payments to Russia and Belarus. The current meeting explored legal and operational possibilities to continue support to Ukraine and Moldova through the ongoing Danube Transnational Programme as well as strengthening the EU support in the future Danube Region Programme for the period 2021-2027.

As a long-standing partner of Ukraine and Moldova, we will press head with our work and resume all our activities as soon as possible. We will also continue to explore practical ways to help our partners in this most difficult situation, thus preventing further damage to the fragile architecture of transnational cooperation in the region.

Programme co-funded by European Union funds (ERDF, IPA, ENI)
