Danube Cycle Plans - Romania has the national framework for cycle tourism

07-04-2022

On March 30th 2022, the Romanian Government approved the Government Decision related to the creation, marking and homologation of the cycling tourism routes. It is a big step for the Romanian cycling community, which completes the national legal framework for building a proper national cycling tourism network. The elaboration and adoption of this Government Decision is one of the reforms undertaken by Romania through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, within the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration.

This normative act sets to establish the National Velo Coordination Center, the typologies, the characteristics and the classification of cycling routes (according to territorial level, level of difficulty and shape), the approval, marking, administration and financing of cycle tourism routes and also the attributions of the National Velo Coordination Center.

The National Institute for Research and Development in Tourism and Bike in Time are happy and proud to contribute with their knowledge and competences in cycling and in tourism for the success of this Government Decision. We are looking forward for implementing the Danube Cycling Project outputs (such as the National Cycling Routes Network and the National Cycling Plan) by the new National Velo Coordination Center in Romania.
