D-CARE - Czech partners’ visit in Kecskemét (Hungary) - a town that cares for elders

23-03-2022

Kecskemét, a town in the middle of Hungary, really cares for its rapidly ageing population: After a successful piloting period between 2018-2020, CedarNet Senior Knowledge Management Program has been continued as CedarNet Kecskemét Program. It constantly motivates and teaches thousands of local seniors new, innovative and meaningful ways of ageing well. The town is currently also piloting another innovative initiative locally, called Dementia Action Program. So it is not surprising at all that the town is one of the smart care solution piloting areas of the D-CARE project.

Our D-CARE Czech partners (UJEP and Dobrovolnické Centrum from Usti nad Labem) wanted to meet the policy makers and the target group members in person. Following the invitation of CedarNet, they travelled to Kecskemét at the end of February 2022 in the context of a visit meeting with the whole consortium of Hungarian project partners. After a very interesting professional discussion with the Vice-Mayor of Kecskemét and officers of the Social Policy Department, a “talk-in-walk session” was held with seniors of Green Vitality CedarCircle. The tour led up to the highest “peek” (the top of the artificial hill) of Kecskemét. Being able to continue our collaboration and connect in person is a strong catalyzer for the D-CARE project and our common mission to advance smart care after two long years of online meetings due to Covid. We are looking forward to more in the coming months!
