ISTER - Catalogue of Roman Routes and Settlements

09-03-2022

ISTER's main result resides in a transnational framework for long-term cooperation of multi-level DR actors as a prerequisite for promoting sustainable use of Roman heritage, specifically the network of Roman routes and settlements.

We will soon publish the Catalog of Roman Routes and Settlements, which was created due to the work of 16 partners from 8 countries in the ISTER project.

The Catalogue records the main Roman roads (via public) that intertwined the Roman Empire and led from Rome to the Danube region. Settlements were formed along the roads, which flourished with the road network. In the Catalog, you will find descriptions photographs of the exact location of the former flourishing outposts of the Roman Empire. The outposts were located in the following countries today: Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
