CSSC LAB - New competence center for digital renewable energy systems opened in Stegersbach

03-11-2021

On October 8th 2021, the new "solar.one" competence centre for digital renewable energy systems opened its doors in Stegersbach, Austria following a two-year construction period.  The centre seeks to apply digital solutions to current energy supply needs in an environmentally friendly way. One of the key missions of the centre is to make this highly timely topic accessible to children, seniors and laymen.

As a renewable energy adventure world, the centre demonstrates the use of innovative energy technologies. For instance, the centre hosts photovoltaic solutions such as roofing, thermal energy storage for heating and cooling, electricity storage as well as various e-charging infrastructure solutions in addition to an animated sun, an interactive info wall for touching and interacting as well as a video about the future of energy.

For those wishing to visit, access is free and guided tours can also be organized. Dedicated lectures, seminars, workshops and docking facilities, as well as rental space for offices and events are also available. In addition, those who come with concrete ideas, projects and innovations can count on expert and topic-oriented advice and targeted coaching. Moreover, it is also home to the Innovation Lab act4.energy and several research and innovation projects.

The centre also houses the demo components for the CSSC Lab project (Li-Ion and salt-water batteries, hot and cold thermal storages building core activation and heat exchanger systems, charging infrastructure, monitoring equipment and a load & flexibility management system), which have been functioning since June 2021. These components serve to test and demonstrate a range of sector coupling and energy storage technologies and will also be open to all interested visitors.
