DANUrB+ - THE DIGITAL FUTURE OF THE DANUBE

19-10-2021

DANUrB+ will participate at the online conference “8th Danube Participation Day” (Digitalization & Participation - putting people at the center of the digital transition) on October 25th and 26th, 2021.

Digitalization was acknowledged as a vital component to attain climate neutrality, economic interconnection, and social involvement stated by the decisions of the European Council’s “Shaping Europe’s Digital Future” in June 2020. There is cooperation in the EU through the Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans with the accession countries and the EU Neighborhood countries within the framework of the Association Agreements. Digitalization was also indicated as cross sectoral priority by the new Action Plan of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, the European Commission, and the connected countries along the Danube Region. The decision making should be developed in a better digital environment for a significant e-Participation of the members.

The event will make it possible for all the participants in the Danube Region to debate about the digital transformation, administrative and managing problems, as well as contribution and decision making. Some of the questions that will hopefully find their answer are connected to the potentials and challenges of the digital transition, renovation of the public services, best practices in the present e-Governance initiatives and smart concepts, the role of the EU Strategy to support involvement in digital procedures, etc.

The organizations, initiatives, and projects that are not included in the panel discussions, have the possibility to share their experience in the World Café Sessions. The results of these sessions will be drafted and passed on to the EUSDR Governance stakeholders as well as published to interested stakeholders. Thereby, it is intended to refer to projects and initiatives that are mentioned there. Against this background, an overview of the good practice examples, that have been revealed by participants in the World Café Sessions, is planned to be published.
