02-10-2021

The field trip for public and stakeholders in the CHKO Záhorie, the project pilot area, was organized on September 10, 2021 by Slovak project partners - Záhorie Protected Landscape administration and the Ekopolis Foundation. Ten participants and two lectors walked important areas around Plavecký Štvrtok. The main lector, Tomáš Olšovský, the administration director, revealed many facts and information about biodiversity of the area. One of the main messages was that all nature, every its part, living beings and inanimate matter, plays important role in whole system and its mutual reactions. He explained it on site on several smaller and larger items – from plants and insects to larger habitats.
After such principal explanation the lector went to the DaRe to Connect project and its goals – to make connections, to allow migration and communication of biodiversity. He explained and showed biocentres and biocorridors and a few examples of good corridors as well as bad ones that are interrupted by mostly artificial obstacles. Martina Paulíková from the Ekopolis Foundation then explained importance of the European Green Belt as one of the main “green backbones” of Europe and importance of its connection with Slovak for Slovak area via Záhorie and Small Carpathians regions.
The field trip contributed to awareness of general public a lot. They stated a field trip is much better than any lectures and presentations. The project partners agreed to continue in such interpretation activities also after the project end.
