High ranking visitor in URBforDAN project

 
 

A run-down gravel parking lot becomes a forest - that is one of the many targets the URBforDAN project  pursues. Now the Mayor of Budapest, Karácsony Gergely, the mayor of the 2nd district, Őrsi Gergely, and the representatives of FŐKERT presented the URBforDAN work and project within a  press conference in Budapest. Tree planting was a symbolic element of the event, as you can see.

 

Reforestation, nature trail and a bird-watching hideaway

 
 

The tree planting wasjust a first element of the URBforDAN programme, launched with the support of the European Union, under which the capital and the municipality of District II are starting to clean up a 16 hectare area, that has been neglected so far. Reforestation will begin, and a nature trail, bird-watching hideaway and games will be installed in the forest. The project will improve hiking and sports facilities while enriching the forest from a nature conservation point of view. Here is an article on the event (in hungarian):
