Living Danube Limes - Public kick-off event shipbuilding

25-11-2020

On 24. September the kick off for the boat building within "Living Danube Limes" took place in Gunzenhausen (Germany).

Reenactors from Austria and Germany were very well received and presented their Middle Imperial to Late Antique equipment, which had its respective base camp in Roman tents. Well separated due to Covid-19 and marked with a clear circular route, the audience got an impression of Roman craftsmanship between 2 and 6 p.m. in fine weather, with two reenactors at a forge where Roman nails were forged. The products of the blacksmith were also on display: Roman axes, hatchets, dolabrae, planes and drills. Roman shoes were also presented. There were 300 spectators and representatives of local museums and culture.
