12-04-2017

The DANUBEparksCONNECTED project partner Danube-Drava National Park, installed a webcam to observe a White-tailed Eagles nest. They also created a live -stream which enables us to observe the every-day live of this astonishing species. Since a few weeks it is even possible to see the offspring.

The White-tailed Sea Eagle has been the flagship species of the first DANUBEPARKS projects. An Action Plan for the conservation of the White-tailed Sea Eagle has been developed by the DANUBEPARKS network and published by the Council of Europe in 2012. With DANUBE FEE SKY, DANUBEparksCONNECTED follows up on the issue that accidental killing by collision and electrocution through high voltage electricity wires is not yet recognized enough in the Danube region. This issue will be tackled through cooperation with the energy sector and the marking of Danube-crossing electricity wires to protect birds on their migration routes.
