InnoSchool - The Interreg V-A Romania-Hungary Program

21-11-2019

In October 2019, the European Commission approved the modification of the Interreg V-A  Romania-Hungary Program. After the launch of all available funds and the selection of projects within the 3rd Open Call, the Program Management Authority proposed a second modification of the program document, in order to reallocate funds.

The request for modification aimed at increasing the financing possibilities in a certain area, in order to respond effectively to the needs of the stakeholders, thus optimizing the Cooperation Program and contributing to the European Union's strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth.

Following the reallocation of funds between the priority axes, the support of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) has changed as follows:

• The allocation on Priority Axis 3 "Improving employment and promoting cross-border labor mobility (Cooperation in the field of employment)" amounted to 30,673,795 EUR;

• The allocation on Priority Axis 4 "Improving health care services (Cooperation in the field of health and disease prevention)" increased to 72,347,288 EUR. As a result, a series of ten other projects will be contracted in the next period.

The Interreg V-A Romania-Hungary program is intended to finance joint Romanian-Hungarian projects, which address identified needs on both sides of the border, and which require a common approach, as well as innovative solutions, thus contributing to the sustainable development of the eligible area. The program is a continuation of the cross-border cooperation programs implemented in the region and has a total budget of about 232 million euros, of which about 189 million represents the ERDF grant. The eligible area of the program comprises the counties of Arad, Bihor, Satu Mare and Timiş (on the Romanian side of the border) and, respectively, the counties of Békés, Csongrád, Hajdú-Bihar and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg (on the Hungarian side).

Programme co-funded by European Union funds (ERDF, IPA, ENI)
