REFOCuS - Plus trees of targeted project species selected in Austria

09-09-2019

The project partners from Federal Research and Training Centre for Forests, Natural Hazards and Landscape Austria (BFW) and Croatian Forest Research Institute spent one week, from 26-30/8/2019, in Bad Radkersburg (Austria). The goal of the joint field trip was to find plus trees of the target project species. The partners selected the plus trees of Black Alder (Alnus glutinosa Gaertn), Pedunculate Oak (Quercus robur L.), European Ash (Ulmus minor Mill.) and Black Poplar (Populus nigra L.). We have recorded coordinates of all selected trees and measured all necessary tree parameters. Partners also visited the Austrian's institute’s nursery where they observed production and storage of forest reproductive material.
