MOVECO - Cross-country Road Maps

04-07-2019

How can Circular Economy in the Danube region be accelerated? What role play raw material providers, procurers and households in such an acceleration? How can they contribute to circular economy, eco innovation and waste management in each country of the Danube region?

Many questions, which the MOVECO project tried to address within its three cross-country road maps within the innovation groups:

These road maps will help to improve policy frameworks on national and regional level and to promote the understanding of circular economy in the Danube region.

Each of the three innovation groups faces different challenges that were outlined in the road maps. This encompasses for example that high collection rates of mixed packaging generate materials, which are not desirable for material recovery and the overall struggle to keep material flows clean. The road maps further emphasize similarities within the innovation groups to provide a basis for stronger cooperation among the countries to foster the transition from a linear to a circular economy.

The circular economy in a nutshell

In contrast to the traditional, linear, throwaway economy, in the circular economy, we design and create products that are easy to share, lease, reuse, repair, refurbish and recycle, while using regenerative resources and renewable energy. The goal is to minimise waste and to keep products and resources in the economy for as long as possible. Ideally, this win-win approach benefits both the economy and the environment.
