NETWORLD - The Great War in The Common Memory

The final international NETWORLD conference “The Great War in The Common Memory” held last week in Varna, Bulgaria hosted by Varna Economic Development Agency (VEDA) and Regional History Museum (RIM) – Dobrich. The conference started with quick national Bulgarian folklore dances followed by greetings from Mr. G. Nedev - mayor of city region Odessos presented by Mr. A. Hristov - Deputy Mayor of the same region. The opening ceremony continued with welcome speech by Mr. Metodi Nikolov, chairman of VEDA followed by speech by Ms. Vesna Kozar – project manager of the NETWORLD project.

The panel was composed from 10 national and international speakers from Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary and Czech Republic as it was very diversified and engaging.

The conference was held inside the Cirty Art Galery “Boris Georgiev” where during the event the exhibition “Maritime Education in Bulgaria and the First World War” was also presented by the executive director of VEDA - Ms. Todorka Dimitrova.

After the conference the international participants went to Dobrich city where Regional Historical Museum of Dobrich organized cultural WW1 heritage site visits including the Complex Military Cemetery and the museum itself.
