06-06-2019

On April 12, 2019, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Vârtop, Apuseni Nature Park Administration has held the third stakeholder meeting within the framework of the Eco Karst project. At the meeting there were 42 stakeholders present, representing local and regional institutions that are part of Apuseni Nature Park Consultative Management Council, as well as local business previously involved in the activities of this project.

The program started with a short overview on the project activities so far and the opportunities in using the Apuseni Nature Park Partner Logo as a mean to certify the origin and quality of products and services.

After presentations, an interactive exercise was held, where participants discussed opportunities for development in 5 themes: tourism, forestry, animal husbandry, non-timber forest products and education and raising awareness.

Building up on the results of the two previous workshops, the participants in this meeting were actively involved in identifying innovative solutions to encourage the local economy to contribute positively to protecting the natural values of the Apuseni Nature Park.

Thus, until the end of the meeting, together with the stakeholders, participants formulated and prioritized the objectives and activities of the Action Plan for the sustainable use of ecosystem services in Apuseni Nature Park. Before closing the meeting we reminded the stakeholders and encouraged them to get involved in two future activities in this project, organizing a green entrepreneurship training and organizing the Pro-Biodiversity Business Award aimed to identify and promote examples of good business practices in Apuseni Nature Park.
