NETWORLD - Conference “THE GREAT WAR IN THE COMMON MEMORY”

The conference is part of the project NETWORLD - Networking in preserving the First World War multicultural heritage in the Danube countries. The project is co-funded by the European Union Funds (ERDF, IPA).  It will held on 14 June 2019 in the City Art Gallery “Boris Georgiev ” in  Varna, Bulgaria  with the aim  to present the NETWORLD project results and to remind for the memory of the victims during the First World War in the area of Danube countries.  NETWORLD project partners in Bulgaria are Varna Economic Development Agency (VEDA) and the Regional History Museum – Dobrich.

The official conference program will start at 10:00 a.m.  with welcome addresses, followed by panel presentations from  the experts in culture and military history on project results and the conference topic.  The exhibition “Maritime Education in Bulgaria and the First World War” will be presented as well. The afternoon session is devoted on observation  visit to  the “Complex of Military Cemetery – Dobrich”, renovated with DTP NETWORLD project support,  presentation of the exhibition “Dobrudzha Liberation in the First World War 2017-2018”  at the Regional History Museum  and viewing WWI related exhibits in the  Memorial House - Museum Yordan Yovkov.

The participation of this conference is free and open to the public.
