On Thursday, February 7, 2019, a meeting of the Coordination Council on Intellectual Property was held at the Regional State Administration under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Governor of the Regional State Administration Duran I.P., on which the project "Fostering Innovation in the Danube Region through Knowledge Engineering and IPR Management" was presented within the Danube transnational program.
19 partners from 16 countries participate in the implementation of this project. From the Ukrainian side, the Agency for Regional Development and Cross-Border Cooperation "Transcarpathia" will search and analyze relevant information.
Director of the Agency Dankanych M.V. familiarized the participants with the directions of work within the project. In particular, the purpose of the project is to create an innovative, international, universal intellectual property management platform “KnowING Hub”, an open source of intellectual property access for the effective use of existing knowledge of patents and other forms of intellectual property, as well as on existing research and development. This will provide the basis for intellectual property management solutions, eliminate the disadvantages of inadequate data on intellectual property rights in real life, stimulate the development of the intellectual property market and further investment in innovation.
In addition to the project, the members of the Coordination Council discussed the issue of creating an effective system of management in the field of intellectual property rights protection, raising awareness of small and medium business with the regulatory framework for the protection of copyright and related rights.
Specialists of educational institutions, law enforcement agencies, representatives of the regional state administration discussed the directions of work in 2019 and the creation of a co-ordinate association to protect the rights and interests of small and medium-sized businesses in the field of intellectual property.
Summing up the discussions, the director of the department for economic development and trade Denys Man expressed his hopes for further cooperation of the regional state administration with interested structures in the field of intellectual property and focused attention on the program documents and possible ways of support at the expense of the regional budget.
