28-11-2018

The series of events regarding the dissemination of the ‘Cascading concept’ in Centru Region, Romania continued with a knowledge exchange seminar organized by the PRO WOOD Cluster at Reci, on the 14th of September 2018. The core topics of the Knowledge Exchange Seminar were followings: the gained experiences about implementation of cascading concept in wood processing and the actual situation of the wood industry in Covasna County.

The experience provider about the cascading concept in wood processing was the general director at Witz Chair Ltd, member of PRO WOOD Cluster, who described certain steps in the utilization of wood material in the production lines. Based on the experiences, there is a need for digital monitoring of raw material, pre-selection of wood, utilization, and re-utilization of wood by-products in the processes. The discussions encouraged other SMEs to re-think several points in their wood processing and to change the actual approach in their wood processing. As the follow-up, in order to analyze the optimal settings in wood processing, it has been decided to organize site visits for SMEs at wood factories in the region.

In the second part of the event, Rezső Kádár, manager of the PRO WOOD Cluster presented the actual situation of the FBI sector in Covasna County, such as the number of companies from different sub-sectors like wood logging companies, pre-processing, the different type of furniture producers, etc. The financial dynamics (turnover, revenue, profit), number of employees, exports, etc. of the companies have been analyzed based on the latest database from National Institute of Statistics and Labor Authority of Covasna County. Till the end of 2018, several similar seminars will be organized.
