EcoInn Danube - Bus powered by biogas from wastewater

05-11-2018

In Brno is tested bus powered by biogas from wastewater.

In Brno started to ride a bus which is powered by biogas that is produced during wastewater treatment. It is the first bus in public transport in Czech Republic that uses this type of energy. It is a BioCNG pilot project for the cities. The bus runs on line linking city-district Brno-Chrlice and neighbouring town Modřice.

This project fits into more and more preferred circular economy because this bus produces a minimum of waste and uses biogas that was in the past typical kind of waste. And now it is an interesting source! Biowaste and wastewater will serve a usable energy source.

Moreover, to this pilot project was selected an ordinary bus because this type of bus has Brno City Transport Company more than 150 pieces so there is a huge potential for redoing majority of ordinary buses to this modern eco-friendly biogas drive.
