GREEN DANUBE - at the anniversary of 20 years of successful cross-border cooperation in the "Lower Danube" Euroregion

The "Lower Danube" Euroregion, a cross-border cooperation structure bringing together public administrations from three states: Ukraine - Odessa Regional State Administration, Odessa Regional Council and Reni District Council, Republic of Moldova, represented by the Cahul and Cantemir District Councils and Romania -The County Councils of Galati, Tulcea and Braila, celebrated its 20th anniversary of a successful cross-border strategic partnership.
In this context, the Association for Cross-border Cooperation "Lower Danube Euroregion” (ACTEDJ) carried out during June-August 2018 an information campaign on the activity and results of cooperation in the Euroregion, which resulted in an event on 20th August meant to capture in images the opportunities and challenges that the Danube, a source of development in the region, creates.
The event included an exhibition on "Danube - Opportunities and Challenges", presentations of ACTEDJ projects and a networking session.
GREEN DANUBE project was presented by ACTEDJ as a successful initiative in promoting a more environmentally friendly, safe and balanced inland waterway transport system. The main activities and results of the project were promoted, focusing on the identified innovative solutions, through the Campaign of measurements, the Greening Technologies and Best practices Inventory and Workshops, the Policy Agenda and last, but not least, the transnational campaign within the Environmental Information Centres and the opportunity it brings for Galati.
The opening event brought together 25 participants, 30 exhibited works, being able to translate into pictures the opportunities presented by the Danube River, whether natural, touristic or industrial. The representatives of civil society and the private sector in Galati, exchanged views on actions to involve civil society in community development projects.
The photo exhibition is open to the public in the lobby of Hotel Navrom River, Portul Street. 23, Galati, until the end of August and will be available for viewing online on ACTEDJ website.
