Danube STREAM - DANUBE AWARENESS DAY - 13th September 2018

We hereby would like to cordially invite you to the “Danube Awareness Day” in Vienna on 13th September 2018 from 09:00-13:00 hrs.

The event takes place in conjunction with the 9th Meeting on the Follow-up of the Joint Statement, which starts right after in the same venue (invitations sent out yesterday by the ICPDR). The Danube Awareness Day is an official event under the Austrian Presidency of the EU Council and is being prepared and organised by the DanubeSTREAM project consortium.

Purpose - The main purpose of the meeting will be to present and discuss good practices in waterway management, that allow an equilibrium between good ecological and good navigation status. Such good practices are currently being compiled in the framework of the Danube STREAM project. Common experiences and lessons learned after 11 years of Joint Statement will be shared and discussed with a series of renowned speakers and panellists. Practical information
Registration - Participation is free of charge. The Registration is compulsory, please read additional info into Agenda. 
Registration for the event closes on 21st August 2018.
Upon arrival at the UN Security (UN Pass Office) you should be able to present your passport or personal identity card.
Please note that the registration for the ensuing Joint Statement meeting (organised by ICPDR) needs to be done separately.

Directions to the meeting venue
By metro - The VIC can be reached with the U-Bahn by taking the line U1 (marked in red on city maps) towards Leopoldau and getting off at the station Kaisermühlen-Vienna International Centre. Further information can be obtained at: www.wienerlinien.at
By bus - The Vienna Airport Lines operate seven days a week, at hourly intervals, from 6:10–20:10. The VIC bus station is located on Wagramer Strasse in front of Gate 1. The trip takes about 30 minutes.
By train - 
•     The S-Bahn (Schnellbahn) from the airport to the City Air Terminal located next to the Hotel Hilton. The S-Bahn leaves approximately every 30 minutes. The trip takes about 25 minutes. After arriving at the City Air Terminal, change to the underground line U4 and then U1 to  get to the VIC.
•     The second option is the City Airport Train (CAT), linking the airport with the City Air Terminal. The trip takes about 16 minutes. For further information, please visit: www.cityairporttrain.com
