EcoInn Danube - Green initiative in Croatia – invest in a sunny roofing

30-05-2018

Croatian Green Energy Cooperative has started a crowdfunding project with the aim to set up an integrated photovoltaic power plant with the power of 30 kW. The power plant will be set on the roof of the administrative building of the Development Center and Technological Park Križevci which will primarily cover their needs for electrical energy. The surplus will be delivered to the grid by agreement with the supplier, by model self-supply „customer with own production“.

Strong development of renewable energy sources in numerous European countries is based on the active involvement of citizens. The project is based on citizen investments in renewable energy sources with the microloan principle. This is the first micro-financed project by citizens in the field of renewable sources in Croatia.

Concrete positive effects of the project are reflected in the reduction of electricity costs and reduction of the negative impacts on the environment associated with the production of electricity.

Namely, during the 10 year period of the project and use of the power plant is planned to reduce emissions CO2 by 412,500.00 tons. After the expiration of the lease agreement and transfer of power plant to the property of the City of Križevci, the power plant would continue to work and thus still have the savings and positive climate impacts. It is expected that during the lifespan of a 25-year power plant the total CO2 emissions could be reduced by 1,031,250.00 kg of CO2 equivalent.

This project also contributes to the development of green and related jobs throughout the chain of employees and collaborators involved in realization. In addition to the mentioned effects, it is the intention of the Cooperative to make this project a model of the energy of the vigorous development of local communities in order to over time make a significant number of public and private institutions and organizations oriented towards production and consumption of renewable energy sources.
