TRANSGREEN - A project field trip from a personal perspective: climb up the Stone of the Szekler, Alba county, Romania
25-04-2018
25 April, Romania, Coltesti – Alba county. While participating in a Project Partners’ meeting, the TRANSGREEN team took a half-day field trip. Such a trip has a lot to offer when biologists are on board, especially to the fresh eye. For Milvus Group communicator, Ms. Iulia Vizi, this is the first time she personally attends a project meeting. She shared her perspective on the trip in the short-story below.
“I am Julia. I am part of Transgreen, I am part of a team that thinks Europe can build a green infrastructure by loving wildlife and nature in its splendor. I met my colleagues from the project (six countries) trying to conquer a great sleeping ”creature” - a limestone massif called Stone of the Szekler! Starting early, almost asleep, but motivated to share a unique experience, we set off through the morning dew followed by the most loyal dogs (pension’s dogs, but totally foreign to us). Two hours of climbing among pastures grazed by sheep, gravel, and rocky lawns have prompted stories, from happenings linked to our project work to childhood memories. The plateau and the top of the massif have greeted us a great sea of flowers, including a rare blossoming Snake's head flower (Fritillaria orientalis Adams (Fritillaria montana Hoppe, Fritillaria tenella M. Bieb.) - RO. Lalea pestriță) (photo below (c) Marcel Tibirnac)
We also encountered wolf faeces (photos below (c) Catalina Murariu), spotted by the biologists in the group, who were carefully scanning everything around.
How did we capture the view from the peak? Stop wondering! You can find the answer in this picture with a group of beautiful people with their souls full of the gift of nature and sincere smiles! That's the way we are in Transgreen!” (group photo (c) Cristian Remus Papp)
