JOINTISZA - Setting a good example

10-02-2018

It is our great pleasure to announce that the DTP Post 2020 campaign has selected the JOINTISZA project as one of the current projects that successfully shows the benefits of transnational cooperation in the Danube Region. ‘Essential Messages with Project Evidence’, where this news was published, is a document that highlights successful project examples of joint cooperation between European countries, and it results from the launch of two EU initiatives: ‘Public Consultation on EU Funds in the Area of Cohesion” and ‘EU Cohesion Policy 2020’. Both initiatives were developed to obtain input from relevant stakeholders to help design financial programmes for the post-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework, which will have a direct impact on the Interreg Danube Transnational Programme.

In bringing together authorities and experts from five European countries (Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Ukraine), the JOINTISZA project aims to enhance the status of waters of the Tisza River Basin. The project focuses on the interactions of two key aspects of water management — river basin management (RBM) and flood protection — while taking into account the relevant stakeholders who play a pivotal role in the Tisza RBM planning process. The main goal of the project is to further improve the integration of water management and flood-risk prevention planning and actions for the next RBM planning cycle, in line with the relevant EU legislation.
