CHESTNUT - WORKSHOP "SUISTAINABLE URBAN MOBILITY IN ZADAR FUA"

On January 30, 2018, the workshop "Sustainable Urban Mobility of the City of Zadar" was organized by the Agency for Development of the Zadar County ZADRE NOVE and the City of Zadar, starting at 10 PM in the Rectors Palace's Multimedia Hall.

Marica Babić, deputy director presented the projects in the field of mobility that are currently being implemented in the Zadar area with special emphasis on project CHESTNUT.

The workshop presented the results of the current documents and analysis done in CHESTNUT, which included initial status analysis, vision design, goal setting (final and measurable), choice of measures through active communication and monitoring and evaluation of process and performance. Participants of the event were the representatives of the Institute for Spatial Planning of Zadar County, Obala i Lučice (communal/utility company), Liburnija d.o.o. (provider of public transport), Port of Zadar, Innovative Zadar, Zadar County and the City of Zadar.

Discussion that was one of the most important parts of the workshop produced important inputs to meet the needs of the local population more successfully in the final version of an important document such as the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), which is currently developing ZADRA NOVA within the CHESTNUT project with Mobility Entities. SUMP is an innovative way of planning urban traffic that satisfies the needs of people in a satisfying way. The goals of such traffic planning are the availability of destinations and services, increasing traffic safety, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel consumption, attracting city space, increasing the quality of life, healthier environment, and reducing adverse health effects to citizens. SUMP will greatly contribute to improving the quality of life of citizens of the wider urban areas of Zadar.
